Parents,
We are very grateful for the wonderful start of Smack (Wednesdays) and Snl (Sundays). We feel like the split has
enabled us to provide more depth for your child’s faith. In addition, last week we added serving in Benton Harbor
through a ministry called ForeFront, under the direction of Pastor Nate Bull. Nate is the most authentic man I
know and also lives out what it means to love your neighbor.
ForeFront Ministries purchased a foreclosed house on Empire Street in Benton Harbor, they have been doing cook
outs, neighborhood clean ups, fixing up the house, and having Bible studies out of the house. God has been doing
some incredible things in the area. This area has a very high rate of unemployment and poverty. Many of the
neighbors struggle with violence, drugs, and alcohol. We have committed to sending a small group of students,
leaders, and parents every Sunday and Wednesday to ForeFront.
Please have your child to Smack/Snl, by 5:55pm on the days they are scheduled to serve in Benton Harbor wearing
old MODEST clothing, that can get paint on. The Hope Church Bus will take the students out to Benton Harbor
around 6:05. On their way to forefront they will go through orientation. On the way home they will go through
a debriefing exercise. They will serve by doing simple projects alongside with our leaders and parents (example:
painting, cooking, interacting with people at the ministry house, neighborhood clean-up, handing out chili, coats,
hot chocolate as people come by the house, etc…) from 6:40-7:40 and then returning to Hope Church around
8:20pm.
Parents, can play a huge role by helping at ForeFront. Please consider coming with us on the night your child’s
small group goes that would be a huge help.
We understand that some of you as parents may not feel comfortable with your children going to ForeFront
and we respect that. Please let your child know your intentions and on the night they are scheduled to go to
ForeFront they can stay at Smack/Snl with a different small group not going to ForeFront that night.
We will do our best to send out a phone message on the weeks your son/daughter is scheduled to serve as a
reminder for you. We will NOT send any student to ForeFront without parental knowledge.
Please check the schedule on the other side of this letter. Highlight the dates for your son/daughter and tell
them your desire for their involvement at Forefront. As you look over the schedule I have included an A
and B for some small groups, because there is a possibility their small group will split in the future (we like
to have smaller small groups, if a small group gets too large it is not as effective, so we split them up and
create an additional small group). If you have questions, comments, or concerns, I would encourage you to
call myself at 269.767.0994 or the church at 269.637.8439. We look forward to what God has in store for us
at ForeFront!

Ask your child their small group leaders name and look for it on the chart below. Just because it says 7th grade and your child is in 7th grade does not mean that he will be going it goes by SMALL GROUPS!
